Wow, I cannot even explain how awesome this week was in words. It was just amazing!!!!
Elder Miller and Elder Mejia |
Elder Mejia is 19. He is from the northern part of Mexico! Since we have been together we have just killed it!!! It feels like I knew him before and so when he got here we didn't have to take time to get adjusted. We just went right to work and wow it was so great "La neta". He is like my brother and I am so excited for this change with him. I am going to learn a lot.
One thing that was amazing is what happened in the week. In the mission our president has given us a standard of excellence. They are goals for us to help us complete more efficiently with our purpose in inviting others to come unto Christ. It is tough to complete. It is not something easy. It takes all your effort and heart but it is so rewarding. At the first part of the week, we were a little behind but we said "hey we are going to do it because we love each other, we love these people and we love the Lord". After that, we went to work and at the end of the week we almost completed the standard of excellence 2 times. Wow, it was amazing!!!! We were able to find 20 new investigators this week, we had 11 investigators in church this week and we have 9 baptismal dates. Wow, my heart is full of gratitude to my Heavenly Father!! We couldn't have done it with out him!!
We found a lot of great families this week!!! Just down to earth good people!! One is the family of Guillermo. They are a family of 8 and 6 are of the age to be baptized!!! They are a wonderful family. They are really humble but they are putting their trust in the Lord and they putting there effort in too. They came to an activity this last week in the church and they also came to church. They did it on their own. We didn't have to pass by for them!!! Wow it is a golden family!! I am so excited for them and they are progressing so well!!!!
Our other families are just wonderful too!! I love them!!!!
Last Tuesday, I was teaching district meeting and I felt so so good teaching. I was teaching our whole zone. We were all together. I could just feel the spirit working through me. I really enjoyed the topic. I was able to talk about this because I was remembering my childhood. I remembered an example that dad uses and used once when I was little in sunday school. The topic was "think outside the box". I felt strongly to speak on it so I did. I just feel that we as people get comfortable in some things or we get in a groove and we shouldn't!!! Because the adversary is always going to come up with something to try to get us, but we must be strong. I used the example with the dots. Some missionaries tried and failed, others didn't want to try. When one of them did it and completed all the dots, you could see all of the missionaries in their minds say "oh that's how". I love this example because many times as humans we put limits on ourselves in the things we can and can't do! We need to break this habit because when we put limits we are only hindering our true potential! What I have come to know is, that is why the Gospel is here for us! To help us break our limits and our obstacles. If we live these simple principles, we will see how our eyes can be opened. Like in the example, after someone does it, we see how it’s possible. I know that if we are praying and reading and searching the scriptures, we will find and we will receive the guidance we need to "think outside the box DO IT." Also read of Captain Moroni! He was amazing at thinking outside of the box. When he fortified the whole country with forts and stuff, it says that it was something the children of Lehi had never seen before! Wow amazing! Here in the mission we are always looking and trying new things to do this great work more efficiently, but it is not only something in the mission---- it is something for all of us. I invite all of you readers to do so! "Think outside the Box" I say unto you that my words aren't mighty in writing but I know with all of my heart these things our true. I know that God loves us and wants the best for us but he has also given the great gift to think and to do! Use it and seek the guidance of the Lord!!!
