hey

Hey it was really good talkin with all of you this past week.

Elder Cruz, Elder Miller y Elder Olsen.

It was great to see all of you and to hear your voices. I'm sorry I'm weird and didn't really know what to say, it's just that I live in a different world.  So your gonna have to help me when I get home so I'm not so weird. haha. But it was really nice.  I really needed that just to chat with you all and to joke  yeah and to laugh!! I can't wait to give kel and jacee a big ole lobster. Huck is super cute. He always just looks happy and content with life. Oh zass I'm going to teach that kid a thing or two but namely the mullet haha I'm super stoked to see him!!

I don't have a lot to say this week because I talked to all of you on Saturday.  I had a really good week and one filled with a lot of spiritual experiences dealing with the power of the priesthood but really close to my heart.  I can't really share them in an email but just give me a few weeks and you can hear them.

Elder Miller, Elder Sargent, y
Elder Peterson.
Guadalajara Temple
I will tell you one.  We went to Guadalajara on Wednesday for the big Christmas party. We went with 3 zones and some of my really good friends were there.  I got to see them and everything and it was really awesome.  After Elder Peterson came out of the temple, he came up to me and just looked not to good.  He asked me to give him a blessing. I said of course. We went into a room with him, Elder Sargent, Roberto Jaen and I. He was bad, he was burning up and he was super achy in all his body. I gave him a blessing and the words just flowed out of my mouth.  It was really special and the spirit was so present and strong.  It had us in tears.  This was a really special moment and after the blessing luego luego, he felt better and he wasn't in pain. I testify that the priesthood power is real. It is the power that God gives his worthy sons to act in His name. I have had so many experiences that I cannot deny the priesthood. Men of the priesthood, always live worthy of your priesthood because you never know when you will have to use it. I'm so grateful for the restoration of the gospel of JESUS CHRIST and the blessings I receive from it.

Christmas was weird. It was really great and I enjoyed it, but it is just weird not to be with the family.  We taught a lot of people yesterday and it was really great.  That night I taught my companions how to make tortilla pizza. oh zass man, they were so good!!! I haven't had those since I left the house!!!

Well, I am so happy to be a missionary and to be serving my King. It has truly blessed and changed my life. I am eternally grateful for the time I have here and will have in these next couple weeks. I have become more of the man that my Heavenly Father wants me to be and I continue becoming that man everyday.

hey

hey everyone!!!!

We had an excellent week this week.  It was really crazy but filled with little special moments.

Elder Miller, Elder Olsen y Elder Cruz.
First,  I gotta tell you about my birthday dinner it was awesome. My companion said to me, " what do you want me to make you for your birthday dinner?"   I just said I wanted a lot of meat! yea!!! and I want it spicy!! So, he got to cooking.  I don't know what he made but it was so good. This is what it had---it had pieces of steak, hotdog, ham, and habenero chorizo with onions and a ton of chile peppers and it  was all mixed together like a stir fry.  We ate it with beans and tortillas, man I about died, it was so good but so spicy. We were all crying, it was so funny.  I was so grateful and it was a really good b day dinner.  I am really grateful for my comp Elder Cruz.

Elder Cruz, Luz, Daniel, Elena,
Elder Olsen y Elder Miller.
We had an amazing baptism this week well, yesterday. Luz, Elena and Daniel all were baptized. They were going to get baptized on Christmas but they are going out of town so they all were baptized yesterday. How beautiful. Their lives have all changed so much and they all know what is really important in life. They are all so much happier in their lives.

I spoke in church yesterday. It was special for me. I spoke on coming to Christ. I had all my thoughts gathered but I had only pondered on what I would say and I had studied the scriptures. I got up in front and the words just came to my head of what I should say as well as the scriptures I was going to share. It was really special. I was really grateful for the chance I had to speak and bear my testimony of our Lord and Savior and the things that He has done for us and for His atonement. I am eternally grateful for the atonement in my life, for it has the power to wash away sins and to heal our wounds but these blessing only come as we are worthy and living the steps of the gospel of Jesus Christ. All that I ask each and every one of you is that you can share these blessings with those who don't have them.  This would be the best gift you could give to our Savior at this time of year.

I love all of you very much

happy holidays,

hey everyone

Wow, what a crazy week we had!!! and wow was it full of surprises!!
Elder Cruz y Elder Miller

One news that is so exciting is that Elder Cruz and I are proud new parents haha!!! yeah I have another kid.  Oh um I'm talking in missionary terms . Elder Cruz and I are trainning a new missionary!!! They called us late Monday night and said that we had to be in Guadalajara the next day at 10 in the morning!!  We went and we were just so stoked. Our kid is so awesome.  He is the man, his name is Elder Olsen. Yea, know what? He's from California. He comes from New Port Beach and he is a surfer. He is super chill.  He is my bud and he just has a great spirit about him. He doesn't speak a lot of Spanish but he has great desires to serve the Lord. I am so blessed, I really am.  I have two great companions and I love them both. Elder Cruz is just plain funny.  He is always making me laugh and his English accent is so funny. (he speaks English) He plays the piano beautifully and he has a great knowledge of the scriptures.  I'm just so grateful for these two elders they are just so awesome.

We got back to our house late Tuesday night to take Elder Olsen back. Then early Wednesday morning,  Elder Cruz and I had to go back to Guadalajara for some meetings we had with President. They were so great.  I learned a lot. But man, we were out of our area for 3 days.  We got back Wednesday night at like 12.  We hadn't done any work all week but we weren't going to use that for an excuse. We went to work. We were working with everything we had.  Last night we were able to complete with all of our mission goals. Wow, it was super intense and we had a lot of great experiences.

We baptized this week which was a real miracle.  We baptized the sister of Laura, who is one our recent converts. She didn't want to listen to us for a long time but she had a special experience where she received an answer from God that these things were true.  She told us when we were over there that she wanted to be baptized. We were like what---and she told us everything it was way awesome. She had already been to church and read in The Book of Mormon.  We just taught her what she needed and she was ready. She wanted Elder Olsen to baptize her.  It was super awesome for Elder Olsen because he only has a few days here. haha He was super stoked. Rocio is awesome.  She is really funny but she is so happy now and she was so happy to be baptized.

I had a very special experience this week, well we did with two sisters. They are named Luz and Elena. They are like in there 40s. They were referrals from a member. We went to visit them and they received us with a big smile. We started talking with them and Luz told us that she didn't believe in God, she never has and she never will. She said that we are always welcome to come and visit her but that she doesn't believe in God. She has had a really rough life and that is why her sister Elena is with her right now because she lives in Guadalajara.  She told us that she felt a voice in her heart that she had to come and be with her sister.  She followed that voice and she has been here for a little bit and has helped her sister a lot.  We started passing by with them on Thursday and we have passed by with them everyday since. In these few days, I have seen the hearts of these two ladies change drastically. They are praying and reading everyday.  They went to a baptism and they went to church. They told us that what they felt in these couple day is nothing they have ever felt before. Luz told us that she knows that God lives and loves her. Last night Luz,  Elena and Daniel all accepted to be baptized right before christmas. Wow, I can't explain to you in words how I feel. It is amazing and I know the gospel is true and I know God guides us to his children that are ready to accept the Gospel. Luz and Elena are amazing.  I know I knew them before this life.  I know that my companions and I were prepared before to teach them. I love this Gospel and I love God's plan!!!!

hey everyone

Hey,

This one is going to be a little short this week but I write it with much love!!

This week we had the great blessing to listen to Elder Tenorio.  He is from the seventy. He came and talked to us, also his wife. Wow, it was an amazing conference. The spirit was just incredible, it really was and very inspirational. Elder Tenorio was just so excited to talk with us and was just so real and himself. He laughed and had a great sense of humor. But what really stood out to me was his true desire to serve the Lord and to do his work. He told us of many experiences that he has had in his life doing the Lord’s work. Man, where ever he goes and who ever he speaks with---he is always looking for way to talk about the restored gospel and invite others to come unto Christ. I feel that this is something that all of us can do a little better. There are so many of God’s children who are just waiting for us to be bold and be out going and to share the gospel with them so that they can have these beautiful blessings in there lives.
Baptism of Hermano Eliab.

This is what I want all of you to ponder on this week.

What am I doing today to share the Gospel with my brothers and sisters? Think about it, ponder it and then act. Don’t be scared. Just do it, for the Lord will give the very words in the precise moment.

I love all of you dearly.

hey hey

Hey everyone!!!!! Wow, I had an excellent week this last week and I have so much to say!!!
Elder Cruz and Elder Miller

First off, I can really say for the first time in all my mission I got cold but I mean really cold!!! I don't know what happened but Saturday night a cold front moved into Morelia. Man oh man did it get cold fast but I was cold. In all reality, it probably wasn't that cold but I have been just enjoying almost perfect weather for 2 years and this came.  Wow, I was freezing.   When we got home from church to change our suits, I was like I'm putting on my camo!!!  I did i put my camo pjs on under my missionary clothes. haha I also had a sweater and my black coat!! I don't know what was up but I was cold and man if I was cold yesterday, man in a month or so when I arrive in SLC I'm gonna be like Sanka from Cool Runnings!! haha but ya gotta love it!!!

This week I had a very special experience with a family in our ward. This family has become close to us.  We really have gained there confidence because with other missionaries they were a little bit closed to them but they are awesome and we would always tell them if you need anything call us.  They called us during the week with sad news. They told us that their little boy Derek had been burned really bad and was in the hospital. They asked us to come give him a blessing. We dropped everything we had going and went racing for the hospital. When we got there, the family looked tired but were very happy to see us. The people in the hospital let us pass to see little Derek (he is a cute boy he is always smiling and has long curly hair) He was in a little bathtub.  He saw us and smiled even when he was in so much pain. We knelt down next to his little bathtub and gave him a blessing. I felt a great peace in the room and the company of Heavenly messengers. It was beautiful. We thought he was going to be in the hospital for a while but when we got to church on Sunday, in comes running little Derek. I was overwhelmed to see him and his Dad said that his recovery will be very good. Know that the priesthood power exists.  It is real and it is the power that God gives to his worthy sons to act in his name.

Funny story. We were racing to a lesson on Wednesday in the morning. We were walking down the side of the freeway to go teach some guys that work for Catapillar.  We were walking fast to be there on time but the sun was super bright and powerful and I couldn't see so I had my head tilted down and I was walking and walking and boom!!!! I ran into a metal sign that was on the freeway.  It was just right at the perfect height that it just wacked me right on the top of the head!!! I was seeing stars.  I was just like wohhh and then I was like-- hey snap out of it you gotta teach a lesson right now.  I went running to catch up to my comp because he was in front of me and man my head hurt.   I touched my head and yup cut it right open, yup there was blood. My comp was like what did you do and I just chuckled, it's not that bad let's go teach.  He said "ahh crazy miller" so that was a highlight. haha and yes mom, I am fine don't worry.

We were teaching a lady this week named Araceli. She is pretty cool.  We were in a lesson and she just broke down and told us everything that is going on in her life. It was sad but I knew there was hope for her there is always hope. We were talking about the family and how the gospel can help us be happy and be a family eternal, if we live by the principles. I was prompted to take out the pic of Mike and his family from my scriptures. I did so and I shared with her what a great example Mike is to me and to many. It was a special moment. I told her the relationship Mike and I have and what has happened ever since we met. His example is fierce. I love it and I know that the gospel has blessed him greatly in his life for I have seen it. I don't remember everything I said but it had me in tears. I am so grateful for Mike Eager and for the example he sets. He is a great guy and I consider him as one of my brothers.

This weekend was really great!! We had two baptisms. Brisa was baptized and Carlos. 2 days before the baptism of Brisa, she was unsure if she was going to get baptized.
Elder Cruz, Brisa and Elder Miller

She said that she hasn't felt what she needs to be baptized.  We talked with her for a very long time and left her with homework. The next day Friday we watched the Joseph Smith movie. It was great. After the movie, we bore pure testimonies to Briza of the truthfulness of everything that we do. The spirit was incredible, so strong!! After we closed our testimonies, Brisa said, "miller, I did what you told me to do, I prayed like I have never prayed before and I felt different. I know these things are true, will you baptize me tomorrow!!" It was such a beautiful moment and it is moments like these where your happiness goes to a state of joy just like it says in the Book of Mormon where there was a separation of the body and spirit--- for so great was there joy!! I love my mission and I love being one of the Lord's Representatives. We had the baptism. It was great.

I baptized Hermano Carlos.

Baptism of Hermano Carlos

What a special moment this was for me!! I can't explain it in words but all I know is that the smile that he had on his face was a true smile a pure smile and I will never forget it.  What a great guy.

Elder Miller and Hermano Carlos

I love all of you dearly.  You are in my thoughts and prayers along with investigators, members, and a lot of missionaries but know that I love you and I love you all very dearly. Know that I am safe and that I am at my Father's business. Be kind, be patient, take a pause and meditate the creations of God for they are beautiful, enjoy your surroundings, be positive and look at the good things in life, be happy, show that smile off, make someone’s day, serve, be yourself, love, laugh, enjoy the moments, live life, and love life.

I am grateful to be a child of God, to have a physical body and to be part of a family who loves me!

hey

Hey everyone!!!!!

Wow, how did everyone’s week go? Well mine was just superb!! Wow, it was really awesome and I had a lot of amazing great experiences this week!!

One the zone of Aeropuerto its our zone, its a good zone but it has been struggling a bit. My comp and I have been working really hard to help the missionaries and get them all excited to do the work of the Lord and little by little we are seeing the changes and improvements. This zone hasn't been the bautizona for the week for oh, I don't know how many months but this week we were the bautizona. We worked super hard the whole week to help all of these people enter into the waters of baptism. 11 children of God were able to be baptized!! Wow, how great!!! fantastic!!!

We baptized 3 this week. We baptized a single mom, Laura and one of her daughters Danna.

They are great and we had a blast teaching them. Laura has a lot of problems in her life but she really just put her trust in God and started to obey his commandments. Her life started to change little by little. Their baptism was really great and I'm so happy for them.

We also baptized a boy named Johnathan.  He is 8.  His siblings are members but his parents are not. They want to be but they are not married so they are working on getting married so that they can be baptized. They have been attending the church for a year.  They are a great family!!!! Johnny was so happy for his baptism.
Baptism of Johnny

We also went to the baptism of some of the missionaries in the zone. While I was there, I met a sister of the church.  She lives in Traverse Mt, up by Lehi.  They were super awesome this sister and her daughter.  We talked and they were just super nice and very outgoing. They gave their testimonios in the baptism and man o man, I was just really touched by the spirit. Their testimonios were so strong and firm and simple. They are great and they invited me to come to their house to eat Mexican food when I return to Utah.  I also gave her our address so maybe she will be in contact with you.

Also on Sunday, a member of the 70 came to our ward and spoke to us. Elder Lyons. It was super great. I really enjoyed his talk.  He spoke very calmly but always with a big smile and he was always testifying. It was really great, really it was powerful!!!!

This week looks very good. We are going to be working really hard to find new chosen families and it will be the baptism of Carlos and Briza!!!!  I'm super stoked!!!!!

I also went to Acambro this week to work with some missionaries. It was really great. I enjoyed working with them and they were able to baptize this last week so yeah it was just super awesome!!!

My B-day package came and it was awesome, I loved it! I am excited to make the cake!!

Well, I love you all a ton.

hey hey

Hey everyone!!!!!!!

We had another great week here in my area. My comp was gone for like half the week on divisions and I stayed here in the area and I had one of the youth accompany me everyday. He is actually almost ready to turn in his papers for his mission. He is 18 and his name is Tono. He is a really funny kid.  I get along with him really well along with all of the other youth here in the ward. It was a really good experience for me to be with Tono. I really feel like he was able to grow and learn in the time that we had together.  He said that he was grateful for the time he had with us.  He really liked it and said that he is more excited to get his papers all filled out and sent in!!! I am really happy for him. He will be a great missionary.

We are teaching a man right now whose name is Carlos.  He is an older man like 65 or 70 but he is my bud. I love him a lot and we have a great relationship. He has a little store that he owns on the side of a highway and it is like a half mile from the church.  When we get there, he always greets us with a smile and asks us how we are doing and invites us in to talk for a little while and to drink a pop with him. He reminds me a lot of Grandpa S.

He is very sincere and calm.  He has a very calm voice.  He always takes his time to answer questions and he answers them when he has thought about it and knows what he is going to say, just like Grandpa S. I remember so many times when I would go down to visit grandpa and he would always greet me with a big smile and a great big bear hug.   I used to love just sitting on the couch or in the lawn chairs just talking to Grandpa S.  He was always so sincere and honest and this is how Carlos is. Hey, he even likes the western look like grandpa did. It is such a joy to sit down and talk with Carlos and to see him progress everyday.  Wow, it is so great and brings me so much joy.  Carlos walks to church every week with his grandson and they do it with joy.  Wow, what a special guy.  We will be baptized in two weeks.

We also had the primary program this Sunday.   It was so great and funny.   I love the little primary kids. They all sang with all the air that they had in their lungs and then all got up to the mic and said there little talk.   They are so cute and all of them just had really big smiles on their faces.

It is starting to get a little colder here in the morning.   We have to wear jackets because the air is crisp, but I like it.  It makes everything feel refreshed.  Oh, I haven't seen this for a long time but in the mornings sometimes we can see our breath.  It is a little chilly.

This week is going to be a really great week for us. There is going to be many of God's children that will enter into the waters of baptism.   I'm really excited.   We are going to have the baptism in a lake that is called Sirajuen or something like that.   I have no idea how to spell it but it is a place that is super beautiful.  It will be very memorable.

Well, I love all of you very much.

take care

lovely

Hey everyone!!!!

Wow, I just enjoyed this week so much.  It was filled with a ton of stuff but it was so great!!!!!
Elder Cruz y Elder Miller

First we had concilios (oh I don't know how to say that in english), lets just say that my comp and I met with president and his ap's this week and as well as other leaders to have a council on how the mission is going. We spent all afternoon with them. President Jesperson is an amazing man.  I know he is called of God to guide his missionaries in this part of the world. He is always so in tune to the spirit and he always talks with great power. He is very inpirational and we were able to learn a lot from him.  We have a lot of new ideas to help out the missionaries here in the zone of Areopuerto. We also had interviews with president this week. They went very well. We were very spiritual fed but we had been in meetings for almost 2 full days and we lost a lot of time.  But we didn't give the meetings a chance to be an excuse for us not to complete with all of our goals. We worked super hard and we were able to complete with all of our goals as well as we baptized again this week. Wow, how beautiful.

Funny, yesterday there was a little mix up with who we were going to eat with.  There were 2 families that were going to feed us and we didn't want to cancel one of them and make the family feel bad so we went to both. haha. The first one went great and we ate mole, which was very good. After we went walking to the other appointment and we got there and the hermana put the half of the chicken on my plate with salad and beans and onions.  Oh, it looked great.  I didn't know how I was going to handle it all, haha, but we went to town. By the time we left, they were rolling us out of the house.  haha Great memories.

Baptism of Eliab
We baptized an old man named Eliab. He is like 60 and is a taxi driver. He is the man.He is so funny and we get along great!!! His baptism was way spiritual.  We even sang for him. My comp and another member played the piano and violin and I sang.  It was beautiful. But the very best part was that Eliab said the closing prayer and it was so beautiful. It was a prayer from his heart.  He really thanked our Heavenly Father for the opportunity he had to be baptized and for the elders that helped him find the right path and many other words.  I was just filled with such great joy!!  Wow, I love what I do!!

We are teaching a lot of new people and they are awesome. Loudra(mom), Dana(daughter) and Briza(friend of Loudra) are super awesome!! They are so fun to teach because they are always on the ball!!! They always say their prayers, read the Book of Mormon, go to relief society activities every week and church.  They are golden.  They will be baptized this next week.  We are also teaching a lot of youth.  Two in particular, named Mane y Leo.  They are brothers and they have been coming to church now for like 2 months but were never taught by the missionaries so we started teaching them and they are golden!!! The gospel has changed their lives!!!  They are going to get baptized this week!!!!

Hey mom, just so that you know, tomorrow we are going to Morileon to have a meeting with our missionaries. Google it and check it out. Also we have missionaries in Salvatierra, Acambaro, Areopuerto and here in the city one area is called Prados Verdes.

Well, I love you so much.  Have the best week ever

hey hey

Hey, I just had a beautiful week this week.
Dia de Muerte

It was so weird because I am in a new area and all that good stuff and I have a lot of new responsibilities.  It was just a solid good week!!

My companion is Elder Cruz.  He is from Puebla, Mexico.  He is a character.   He reminds me of Zane.  He is big, like his muscles but he is just like a little cannonball.   He is always on one.  He is always smiling and he is very antimated in his teaching.  He is fun and we get along really well.   We had a great week together.

Elder Cruz and Elder Miller
My new area is pretty dope!  It is really different here.   It is a lot drier and its more like a desert but it is awesome.  I really got worked this week because my area has a ton of hills.   I haven't been in an area with hills for more than a year. Man my legs have been on fire the whole week!!!  Now I'm a little worried because I know my legs are going to get big again like the muscle and I don't think I will be able to fit into my suit . haha.  We will have to see haha.   The area is sweet.  It has a lot of new neighborhoods that are just huge with just hundreds of houses but they are all stuck together and they are all the exact same. Yeah its a little weird but I enjoy that we can talk with more people.  The people are really nice here and they are really friendly.

Our ward meets in the new stake center that they just finished 2 weeks ago and wow is it amazing.  It is the first church I have seen in Mexico that has carpet!!!!   It is pretty amazing because all of them that I have seen are just pure tile.   So it is so great.  I love it and it is really beautiful.  Yesterday in church my companion played the piano and I had to lead the music. I didn't really know what I was doing but I put a big smile on and it was just great.  Then at the end of sacrament the bishop asked me to introduce myself and bear my testimony. I felt really calm and I shared a short testimony with the ward. I was just filled with joy to look into the eyes of all of these members and nonmembers as well and to see joy in there eyes.

We baptized a young man named Julio on Saturday.  He is 15.  He is a good kid and he will be a great example for his family. The gospel is really going to help him be a good respectable young man.

We found a ton of just cool down to earth people this week that just want to learn and have a better life. All of them are preparing to be baptized.  The month of November is going to be filled with baptisms.

We also found a really cute family of 5. I love this little family.  They are a dad and mom and 3 kids. They were moving their little wood house to their new brick house.   We told them we are going to help.   We started moving a lot of wood and taking it to the other house. It was so much fun and we were all laughing and we were just having a great time.  When we finished up, they invited us to eat with them and after we taught them a lesson. They loved it and all of them are really excited.

Well, I am going to go do some work.

I love all of you very much and I hope everyone is well.

keep smiling let your light shine.

ps  Eager hey you are the man!!!! I saw the pics of your little 2 pt man that is a sick sick buck.  Way to go bro!!!!!

hey new views

Elder Miller in Uruapon
Hey family and friends!!!!

Hope all of you are just doing swell and dandy and I hope that your week was just super awesome!!!

We had a great week my companion and I.   Well, it was our last week together but it was a very awesome week. We were able to teach a lot of people.  We are teaching a lady who is named Lulu.  She is a young mom with two kids and her husband works in the states driving around a famous musical group.   We found her a little while back and every time we go visit her, she is always just so excited to see us and to talk with us. She is just a really down to earth lady who is looking for more in her life. We taught her the restoration and the Book of Mormon and she loved it.  We came back and she had a ton of questions for us but really good questions about the priesthood and how it was restored. She is awesome and is progressing alot, she also is preparing to be baptized.
Baptism in the National Park

We also had a very special baptism this week on Saturday. The other companionship in my district baptized two youth.  We went to support them. One of the youth is named Alfredo and he is 13.    He is awesome!  He is a stud and is always choosing the right. He is my good bud and he really wanted us to be there, so we dropped some of our plans and went.  I am so grateful I went.  The baptism was in the national park and it was so beautiful.  I just felt so good as these two youth were being baptized.   I could just see the joy on their faces as they came up out of the frigid cold river water.  Wow, it was super special.

Well, yesterday was my last day in Uruapan and in Constituyentes.   I was sad to leave that area.  It was like my home and family because I was there for over 7 months.   I was sad to see those people for the last time.   But I have so many fond memories with them that I will never forget.   Now I am in the big city but not in Gaudalajara.    I am in the capitol of Michoacan, which is called Morelia and I am in the Municipio of Tarimbaro.  It is out on the edge of the city.  I really haven't seen any of my area because I just barely got here.   As I was coming on the bus, I could just feel in my heart that this is going to be an awesome area. hey

Hey hey,

Can I tell you how crazy of a week we have had?  Man o man. It has been raining everyday forever because we have been having hurricanes. It rains a ton and the thunder is horrible here.  It scares me but really it is so so loud. When I get back, I have some crazy stories for you all. So with all the rain, we got sick. My comp and I we were just battling because we just wanted to be out in the streets teaching. We did the best we could and we were able to find some really cool people this week. It was sweet.

Lulu, Miriam, boys and Elder Mejia
and Elder Miller
We had a cool experience this week with Miriam. We taught her on Saturday morning and we had a great lesson. We talked about the importance of the Sabbath day because she has missed a few. She told us listen, I really can’t go to church on Sunday. I didn’t work everyday this week and tomorrow I have to go to the market and sale. I have to. I have no choice. We invited her to pray. This was in the morning on Sunday.  We went to pass by for Lulu. When we got to her house Miriam’s car is out front. We thought she should be working. We knocked on Lulu’s door but nobody came out.  Then Lulu and Miriam came out of the house of Miriam. They both had big smiles on their faces and said, “hey, are you two ready to go to church?” We were like yeah, for sure. Church was amazing and Miriam loved it and along with all of our other investigators. After church I said to Miriam, “hey what happened, why aren’t you out working?” She said, “Miller you are not going to believe this but I prayed like you told me to.  Later when I was washing clothes, and meditating the thought came to my mind, I’m not going to work. I heard that and I just followed that impression. Now I am so grateful that I came to church today.” It was so great and then that night we had a sweet lesson with her.  We were talking to her about how we received our mission calls and why we are here and it was great.  It was very spiritual. (can you believe I received my call more than 2 yrs ago) We were talking about this and she said to us, “every day chicos, more and more my testimony grows of these things. I know that they are true. I want you to baptize me this week.” We were like wow. It was beautiful. But it is a little sad because she can’t get married right now because she isn’t married to her spouse. But she is not going to lose the faith. She is going to do everything she can to keep Gods commandments. Miriam is amazing and she has a solid testimony. She is a great example to me.

We have a new ward mission leader named Samuel Diaz. He moved down here from Atlanta. He is super sweet!!! He is so excited and he really is helping this ward get motivated!!! He is awesome and he is my good buddy. He laughs just like the leader of the outlaws on the movie Big Jake. He is sweet though, and a great example for me in how a member should work. He always is willing to go on visits with us, pass by for investigators, and feed us. hahahaha gotta love that part.

Also my companion fell in the mud this week up to his knees. I was laughing so hard and so was he. We have the greatest times. My comp is sweet. He is just a real good kid. I am so grateful for the time that I have had him. I have learned a lot.

Well I love all of you so much!!!

take care

crazy week

Wow talk about a crazy week!
Riding a sweet tricycle
that I just got done spray painting the front blue
for one of our investigators.

There have been some hurricanes down on the coast.  It is like 2 or 3 hours from here and this week we just got pounded by this hurricane. It rained every single day this last week and when I say rain, I mean rain.  It just dumped a ton of rain. One day this week Elder Mejia and I were out working in the streets trying to find families to teach and we were walking in water past our knees. Talk about crazy, on one street one of the city busses was driving and it was so deep that it killed the engine of the bus and it was just stuck in the road. This was just crazy.  I can't believe this crazy weather.  It was really difficult to work but we didn't loose our faith we kept pushing forward believing that God would bless us and He did.

We found some really great and awesome people this week and they were super fun to teach.  We are teaching a family their names are Benjamin, Soyla, Maria and Conchita, it was our first visit with all of them together.  We were teaching them the Book of Mormon, well sort of.   We told them that they were the missionaries and they knew that this book was true.  They needed to teach us how we could know that the book was true as if we were investigators. We read the last 2 paragraphs of the intro with them and they taught us how to receive an answer. It was amazing and they loved it.   Then we read 2 Nefi 31, which talks about the doctrine of Christ and baptism. The spirit was strong and they loved it.  We asked them what was preventing them from following the example of Jesus Christ and being baptized. They said to us "nothing. " They said there is a river close by, you can take us there right now and baptize us. I was just like wow. It was amazing and these people were all excited and we love what we are teaching them. They are all going to get baptized. They all have dates.

Also, we were at lunch yesterday when we received a phone call from an elder in a different area.  He said there was someone that wanted to talk to us. We started talking with a lady named Gaby.  She told us that the missionaries were visiting her about a year ago.  She was going to get baptized but then the missionaries stopped going with her and she didn't know why.  She told us that she still wanted to get baptized and she wanted us to come visit her because she lives in our area. Wow it was amazing, we are going to go visit her this week and we are going to baptize her.

This week was a week of growth. It was a hard week for us but I learned a lot. At the first of the week nothing was going our way. We couldn't find any new people to teach and the people we had been teaching weren't progressing.  We were just working really hard to find new chosen investigators, but nothing was happening.  But we did not loose our faith.  We kept working with hope.  We kept being obedient and doing everything that we are supposed to and right at the end of the week is when were richly blessed. Many times we want things in the moment and sometimes God wants us to learn patience but I know that as we stay obedient and work and endure constantly we will always be blessed.

I'm looking forward for another great week this week.

Gotta love the burritos, yeah!
I hammered two!

Conference

Elder Mejia, Bishop and Elder Miller.

Conference was just amazing.   Wow, I just can’t stop thinking about it!!!  We were so spiritually fed, like wow, all of the talks were so powerful!!  I loved them.

It was a little interesting down here because the first two sessions I had to watch it in Spanish because there was no signal and for Spanish we kept on loosing the signal. But, I got to watch a bit. I was super impressed by the?  It just hit me hard and I knew it was true.

Priesthood was amazing all of the speakers were just powerhouses but I really did enjoy the talk of Elder Waddle and President Uchtdorf.  Oh and Elder Holland and just all of them, but Elder Waddle in particularly. And Pres. Uchtdorf, I loved how he said "we need to roll up our sleeves and build a boat or bridge to cross the river of our challenges." super awesome.

I also enjoyed the Sunday morning session when the president of the young women spoke, what a great talk.

I also loved how there was so much focus on the Book of Mormon.

I would like to talk more but don’t have much time.  I feel just jam packed of so much good stuff I learned but I need to organize all of it.
Ofelia (90 yrs old), her son Jesus
and Elder Miller.

We also had a great miracle this week. Jesus was baptized. He is an awesome man who has learned to put his trust in the
Lord. In his life he was a car painter and he was the best in all of Uruapan.  He was successful but then he got sick.  He wasn’t able to walk anymore. He had to be in a wheelchair. But this did not slow him down. He is always happy, smiling and upbeat. He doesn’t let the past get in the way of his life. He smoked and drank coffee everyday of his life. But when we found him, he accepted us warmly.  Little by little he was able to learn to pray and with prayer he gained a strong relationship with his Heavenly Father, which helped him to completely quit smoking and drinking coffee.   Yesterday in between sessions he was able to enter into the waters of baptism.  Wow how special what a great day!!!!! What a special man. I love miracles and I love how the Lord works with his children.

Well, I have to go work.  I know this was a little crazy today but I didn’t have much time because we played soccer all morning. How great.

I would like to leave you with my testimony that I know that God lives. He is my father. He loves us each and every one of us. I know that Christ lives and that He is our Savior and Redeemer, and He is my friend. We have a powerful evidence of his existence, which is the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that through this book anyone can receive a testimony from God our Father that Christ lives and He is our Savior and it is only through Him that we can return to the Father. I know that Christ has restored his church back to this earth through a prophet.  I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet there is no doubt in my mind and I know that this church is the only true church on the face of this earth. I know that with great diligence and faith in following commandments of God we can be united as families forever.  I share these things with you and I do in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

love you all
